Child Dental Benefit Schedule

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) is a dental benefits program provided by the federal government for eligible children aged 2-17 years that provides up to $1000 in benefits to the child for basic dental services.

The range of services include:

  • Examinations
  • Xrays
  • Cleans
  • Fissures seals
  • Fillings
  • Root canals
  • Extractions
  • Partial dentures

Benefits are not available for orthodontic or cosmetic dental work and cannot be paid for any services provided in a hospital.

Dental services are capped at $1000 over two consecutive years. The 2 year cap period starts when the child receives an eligible dental service.

To be eligible for the CDBS patients must:

  • Be aged 2 to 17 years for at least 1 day of the calendar year.
  • Be eligible for Medicare on the day or service.
  • Get, or be part of a family getting, certain Australian Government payments.

Please inform reception at the time of making your appointment if you believe your child is eligible for the CDBS. Our practice bulk bills services for eligible children to a value of $1000.
