Bruxism is excessive clenching or grinding of the teeth that can cause permanent damage to the teeth and jaw joint and/or excessive wear on the teeth.
Bruxism can occur in both children and adults. It can happen during the day or at night (where more force can be exerted on the teeth and jaw joint as there is no conscious control of the grinding).
