Dental implants are a highly researched, predictable and conservative option for replacing missing teeth. It consists of a commercially pure titanium post that is placed in the jaw bone to mimic the root of a natural tooth. This is placed in a highly controlled and precise surgical procedure.
Once the jaw bone has had adequate time to heal a replacement tooth (or teeth) can be attached to the implant. The replacement tooth may be fixed permanently (e.g. a crown or bridge) or be removable to allow for ease of cleaning (e.g. a denture).
A thorough consultation, examination and imaging is required in order to assess the suitability of a patient for implants.
